It’s been an incredibly quick turnaround since Theresa May’s surprise announcement, but Parliament will be dissolved a minute after midnight tonight. So after today I’ll cease to be a Member of Parliament, but will instead be a candidate, campaigning to be re-elected as MP for Sheffield Central on 8th June. I’ll keep you in touch with my campaign through my website, and my Facebook page which you can like here.

So this week, I’ll be out knocking on doors and meeting people every day for the next five and a half weeks. It’s something I do all year round, but the campaign gives me even more opportunity. I’ll also be speaking at various meetings and hustings; if you would like to organise one, do get in touch. Many thanks to everyone who has contacted me offering to help with the campaign -; it’s really helpful and much appreciated.

Alongside all of this, on Thursday I’ll be interviewed on Sheffield Live on climate change, on Friday I’ll be meeting with a local GP on NHS funding, and on Saturday I’ll be attending the first Memorial Service organised by South Yorkshire Police to honour police officers who have died while serving with the force -; an event made more poignant by the recent senseless killing of PC Keith Palmer at Westminster.

As I will not be an MP during dissolution my office is only allowed to take on urgent casework -; just ring 0114 272 2882 as usual to get in touch with a caseworker for advice. If you want to contact me about the election or for any other reason, please email paul_blomfield@labour.org.uk or ring me on 07961 555 568.
