After the chaos of last week, it’s difficult to predict the week ahead. I wasn’t expecting the Prime Minister to pull the vote on her deal last week, much less face a vote of ‘No Confidence’ from her own MPs.  Today I’ll be meeting with colleagues in the Shadow Brexit Team and then heading to the Commons for the Prime Minister’s statement on the European Council.

Although Brexit will dominate the week, I’ve other parliamentary and constituency work. I’ll be sending out my final newsletter of 2018 (sign up here if you aren’t already), meeting with US investors to promote Sheffield, and dropping by a ‘Taste of Christmas in Yorkshire’ showcase in Parliament.

On Tuesday I’ll be speaking in the second reading of the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Bill to press concerns raised by local welfare advisers in my Big Conversation; joining an event promoting Votes At 16, a campaign I have long backed; and going to a Labour Friends of Palestine Reception, attended by the new Palestinian Ambassador.

On Wednesday I’ll be speaking in a Westminster Hall debate on the performance of train operating companies in Yorkshire, following serious problems since May’s timetabling changes which were raised by many people in the Big Conversation and which I’ve challenged the Transport Minister on, and catching up with other Sheffield Labour MPs.

Back in Sheffield on Thursday, I’ll be talking with representatives from the Manor Training and Resource Centre (MaTReC), before a Christmas social where I’ll be raising funds for my Children of Yemen Christmas Appeal (do donate if you can). On Friday I’ll be catching up with my team to tie up loose ends before the break and then heading to the St Wilfred’s Centre Christmas Party.
