My week in Parliament starts and ends with Brexit. This afternoon I’ll be in the Commons for the Prime Minister’s Statement on the Government’s response to their historic defeat on their deal and, on Thursday, I’ll be on the frontbench for Brexit Questions and then meeting the President of the Royal College of Physicians with my colleague, Shadow Brexit Secretary Keir Starmer. In between, there will be plenty of other meetings as we seek to reach agreement on the options that we’ll vote on next Tuesday. You can read more on my latest Brexit update here.

It’s not just Brexit though. Today I’ll be attending a Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) board meeting, a charity I helped establish which works to end human trafficking for labour exploitation. If time permits, I hope to join a debate on Further Education College funding too.

Tomorrow I’ll be questioning the Foreign Secretary about the treatment of the Karin people in Myanmar and meeting with the BMA Medical Students Committee, in my role as chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Students and International Students. In the afternoon I hope to join a Westminster Hall debate about mental health and the benefits assessment process, which was raised by constituents in the Big Conversation.

On Wednesday I’ll be at a meeting on Gambling and Suicide organised by the APPG on Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention. This continues my work on gambling addiction and supporting the charity Gambling with Lives, set up by two constituents whose son tragically died as a result of a gambling addiction.

I’ll travel back to Sheffield on Thursday evening for my monthly meeting with Labour members. On Friday I’ll be catching up with my team on casework and meeting with First South Yorkshire to discuss local bus services, which was raised a lot in this year’s Big Conversation, as well as holding one of my fortnightly advice surgeries, and on Saturday I’m heading over to Dronfield to campaign with Labour’s candidate for NE Derbyshire.

Sunday is Holocaust Memorial Day. I’ve signed the Book of Commitment, remembering the victims of the Nazi genocide and I’ll be joining the Orthodox Jewish Community for their Hospital Sunday service at Kingfield Synagogue in Nether Edge.
