New Business Secretary will re-think office closure

I was pleased to get a commitment from the new Business Secretary, Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, today that he will review the decision to close his Department’s office at St Paul’s Place.

After months of campaigning against the Business Department’s decision to centralise its policy functions in London and close the Sheffield office at St Paul’s Place, this is a welcome sign the Department is seeing sense under its new leadership. You can read my exchange with the new Secretary of State here.

Moving jobs to London will clearly cost more, not to mention the damage it does to the Government’s “Northern Powerhouse” commitments and opportunities outside the capital. I will keep pushing the issue.
