Anger over Council Parking Profits
Paul Blomfield has responded angrily to The Star’s revelation that Sheffield City Council is making a profit of £369,000 from residents parking schemes.
The Star recently revealed that parking schemes in Sharrow, Broomhill, Broomhall and Crookesmoor which are in Sheffield Central constituency, made hundreds of thousands of pounds for the Council last year.
Paul has demanded that Lib Dem Council Leader Paul Scriven lower the price of parking permits for local residents now.
'Parking schemes were set up to make sure local people could park outside their own home, not to fleece them.
'Councillor Scriven has responded to my call by setting up a review. But I don't want this issue to be brushed under the carpet. I want action to be taken.
'Profits should be returned to local people by reducing the price of permits. It's the only fair thing to do.
Lower the Permit Prices
'People are angry about this. In tough times these profits should be returned to local residents.'
