Walking the Pennine Way to raise funds for Headway Sheffield, with Tory MP Guy Opperman
On 1st August I'm walking the first leg of the Pennine Way, starting in Edale, with my parliamentary colleague Guy Opperman. Guy is the Tory MP for Hexham but although we're from different parties with different political views we've been united by the shared experience of both having brain tumours in 2011 from which we have both successfully recovered.
I'm walking to raise money for Headway Sheffield, a great local charity who give help and support to people in Sheffield who have been affected by brain injury, and Guy is fundraising for the Air Ambulance. Guy is walking the whole Pennine Way but I'm walking the first day from Edale. If you would like to sponsor me you can do so through my JustGiving page which is at http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-Blomfield-MP0 Or if you fancy walking for the day with us then let me know. It would be great to have a Sheffield Central team of walkers with us.
On the evening before, Tuesday July 31st, I will be at Headway Sheffield's fundraiser at the Harland Cafe on John St at 6pm. The fundraiser event starts at 6pm, tickets are £6 and you can get them from the Cafe (contact details at http://www.harlandcafe.co.uk/). I'm hoping that we'll raise lots of money for this excellent cause so do please help me to spread the word, and why not come along if you can. You can download the flyer for the fundraiser here.
