It’s a short week in Parliament as we head to Christmas, but there’s still time for a debate on Brexit, science and research on Monday, when I’ll be speaking for Labour’s frontbench, pressing the Government to put science and research at the heart of their Brexit negotiations to secure jobs and the future of our economy.
On Tuesday I’ll be chairing a roundtable with Keir Starmer and university sector representatives to hear concerns about the impact of Brexit on higher education, and then later I’ll be in the Commons Chamber to back my colleague David Hanson’s Bill, which I’ve co-sponsored, to remove all hereditary peers from the House of Lords by 2020.
I’ll be back to Sheffield after Parliament goes into recess on Tuesday evening. My office closes on Friday, and reopens on Tuesday 3rd January. So this is the last ‘My week ahead’ until the 9th January when Parliament returns after the Christmas recess.
Until then, I hope everyone has a great Christmas break and let’s all hope for a Happy New Year!
