Unusually this week, I’ll be in Westminster until Friday when the Commons is sitting to discuss my Labour colleague Pat Glass’s Parliamentary Constituencies (Amendment) Bill, which aims to make the Government’s proposed changes fairer. I’ve described the Tory plans as “outrageous gerrymandering” and will be backing Pat’s proposals.

Before then, my week starts today with a meeting of our Shadow Brexit team, followed by a meeting with energy company SSE over their Brexit concerns, and then a meeting of Yorkshire and Humber Labour MPs and MEPs to discuss the regional impact of Brexit. If I get the chance, I’ll be in the chamber for the Second Reading of the Technical and Further Education Bill, as well as joining a cross-party group of MPs who are meeting with the TUC and the CBI to discuss Brexit.

On Tuesday I’m hosting an All Party Parliamentary Group on Students meeting at which we’ll be  discussing Universities UK’s recently released report into violence against women, harassment and hate crime affecting students; I’m co-chairing an APPG on International Students meeting with Universities Minister Jo Johnson; I’m talking to a constituent who is concerned about the situation in Palestine as part of the National Lobby of Parliament; and I’ll be challenging the Government about health policy during Health Questions.

On Wednesday I’ve also been selected for International Development Questions and I’ll be welcoming constituents to Westminster for PMQs.  I’ll be in the chamber for a debate about social care, talking about my concerns over illegal under-payment of care workers; I’ll be speaking in a Westminster Hall debate about the impact of immigration rules on international students; and I’ll be attending a meeting of the APPG on Universities to discuss the Higher Education Bill.

On Thursday, I’ll be speaking about civil society and Brexit at the ACEVO Annual Conference; and I’ll be supporting an event to celebrate International Students Day. Back home in Sheffield on Saturday I’ll be joining Shadow Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union Keir Starmer at Labour’s Yorkshire and Humber European Policy Forum, before heading down to Bramall Lane to cheer on the Blades in their match against Shrewsbury.
