Parliament is only sitting for two days this week, which provides more time to catch up with meetings and visits in Sheffield. Today in Westminster starts with a meeting of our Shadow Brexit team and then I’ll be in the Commons Chamber for the Government’s expected statement on the High Court judgment on Article 50, which is followed by a debate on Brexit’s impact on workers’ rights. Tonight I’ll be back in the Chamber for a debate on further possible delays to the electrification of the Midland Mainline, which is being led by former Education Secretary Nicky Morgan, who I’ve been working with on the issue for many years.

Tomorrow, a question that I’ve tabled to the Secretary of State on Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy about job security and employment rights of “on-demand workers” -; those who work for companies like Deliveroo and Uber -; has been selected, although it’s low on the list and we might not reach it.  Also I’ll be chairing a roundtable discussion between Labour MPs and the Russell Group on the impact of Brexit on our universities.

Back in Sheffield from Wednesday, I’ve got three meetings about local health provision. Concerns about the NHS -; in particular mental health services and funding -; came up frequently during my recent Big Conversation. So this week I’ll be meeting the new Chair of the Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust, speaking to the Clinical Director for Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Dementia at Sheffield’s Clinical Commissioning Group, and meeting the Chief Executive of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust, to discuss the local NHS Sustainability and Transformation Plans, on which I’ve received a lot of emails.

Also in Sheffield I’ll be a panellist on a discussion about the EU referendum at the Festival of Debate; meeting with the Chief Executive of Sheffield College, catching up with the Archdeacon of Sheffield and Rotherham; speaking to a group of constituents about their concerns over the situation in Kashmir; and attending a workshop for young people and policymakers about overcoming barriers to work for young people.

On Friday I’ll be at a meeting I’ve organised between Sheffield’s Chamber of Commerce and the city’s MPs to talk about the local economy. I’ll also be launching the new “Help us to Help” campaign which is being organised by local charities and statutory agencies to support those who beg on our city streets and those who find themselves homeless. On Saturday I’ll be holding one of my regular advice surgeries and then on Sunday I’ll be going to the Remembrance Day Service on the steps of the City Hall.
