It’s three weeks since I’ve taken up my new role as a Shadow Minister on Exiting the European Union and this week starts with our Brexit team meeting.

Later today I’ll be in the Chamber for a Ministerial Statement on Nissan, where Labour will be pressing for similar assurances to be given to all sectors of the economy.  Also this week I’ll be meeting the Swiss Ambassador to discuss his country’s relationship with the EU.

On Thursday, I’ll be speaking at an event I’m hosting in Parliament as part of the University of Sheffield’s Women in Engineering campaign.  The UK needs more engineers and particularly needs to attract more women, and we’ll be launching a new initiative aimed at promoting engineering to children and their parents.

Also in Westminster this week I’ll be chairing the AGM of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Migration, at which I’m stepping down as Chair because of my new Shadow Ministerial role; I’ll be catching up with Lord Bilimoria, my fellow Co-Chair of the APPG  on International Students, to discuss recent Government announcements; I’ll be seeing the Chief Executive of the University mission group MillionPlus, I’ll be talking to the NSPCC about their It’s Time campaign on mental health support for children who’ve been abused; and I’ll be meeting Government Minister Andrew Jones about taxi licensing

On Friday I’ll be visiting St Mary’s School in Walkley; catching up with the Chief Executive of Sheffield International Venues; and I’ll be meeting with a constituent about meeting the needs of children with Specific Language Impairments.
