Paul Blomfield is celebrating after Labour’s campaign to save a bus service for the Langsett Estate has come to a successful conclusion. Due to Labour’s campaign the Passenger Transport Executive have announced that a new bus, the 31A, will replace the 201 bus service and will start running through the Langsett estate in Walkley on Monday 27th October. The old 201 bus had stopped running in July leaving the Langsett Estate without a bus.

Paul Blomfield said:

“I started this campaign after Langsett residents contacted me to tell me how their area was going to be left without a regular bus. Knowing that the Langsett is built on a hillside I knew lots of people used the old bus and would find it difficult to get to other bus routes, especially in winter.

“The campaign received great local support and my petition was signed by hundreds of local residents which showed just how important this issue is. Because of our successful campaign 2 buses an hour will now be running through the Langsett estate six days a week. It’s fantastic to get such a great result for all of the residents.” 

Paul said:

“I met with the Passenger Transport Executive, as did Angela Smith MP and Richard Caborn MP, to tell them how important bus services in this area were. I think they were surprised by the scale of local concern that people had about being left without a bus service, so I’m really pleased the Transport Executive have now put a bus back on.”

The new 31A service runs between Hillsborough Interchange via the Langsett Estate, Upperthorpe and Sheffield Interchange.
