As a Patron of Sheffield Young Carers (SYC) -; a great group working with inspirational young people – I’m delighted to back Young Carers Awareness Day, recognising the UK’s 700,000 young carers, and to support SYC’s campaign to ‘Give Young Carers a Break’.

Taking time out when you’re caring for a member of your family can be hard. But having a good break can sometimes be the only difference between coping and hitting crisis point.

Life for young carers isn’t easy (read Jack’s story here), but everyone can help. From providing free tickets or vouchers to hosting an exciting activity for young carers, there are lots of different ways that we can ‘Give Young Carers a Break’ -; as individuals and through companies or other groups.

Join me in pledging your support at www.sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk/give-young-carers-a-break or text SYCP20 followed by £3, £5 or £10 to 70070 to make your donation today. Every gift received will help give more young carers a break.

If you know or work with a young carer who needs a break, you can apply for a £300 grant to help them. Visit www.sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk/young-carers-activity-fund/ to find out more. The next application deadline is Friday 9 February.
