After a weekend leafletting for my Big Conversation, I’m heading down to Westminster this morning. Parliament returns from the August Recess tomorrow, but we’ve a meeting of the Shadow Brexit team today, preparing  for the Second Reading of the Great Repeal Bill (or the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill as it is properly known), which I’ve blogged about. The debate starts on Thursday, after Exiting the European Union Questions in which I’ll be pressing Ministers for our frontbench.

Tomorrow I’ve a meeting to discuss international students following the Home Secretary’s announcement of a study into the impact of international students in the UK to be carried out by the Migration Advisory Committee, in the afternoon I’ll be in the Chamber for statements, and in the evening I’ll be chairing a meeting of the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform.

On Wednesday I’ll be meeting with a representative from the British Lung Foundation; supporting Breast Cancer Now’s annual ‘wear it pink’ campaign; backing the UK Youth Parliament’s ‘Make Your Mark’ campaign; joining a Westminster Hall debate on 16 to 19 education funding; attending a drop-in for the Royal College of Nursing’s Scrap the Cap campaign; going to the inaugural meeting of the new All Party Parliamentary Group on Swimming, as one of the largest competition swimming pools in the UK is in our constituency at Ponds Forge; and relaunching the All Party Parliamentary Group on Debt and Personal Finance of which I hope to be re-elected as an officer.

Back in Sheffield on Friday, I’ve meetings with Sheffield NHS Clinical Commissioning Group;  Shine Health Academy, a great local charity that helps obese young people gain confidence and lose weight; and Manor Training and Resource Centre (MATREC), a voluntary-sector training organisation. I’ll also be talking with a constituent about mental health services

At the weekend I’m launching my community consultation the Big Conversation, running from 9th September to 7th October, to listen to people’s concerns and help set my priorities in Parliament – at public meetings, café and pub drop-ins, street ‘surgeries’ and more –  as well as a survey delivered to every house in Sheffield and available online. On Saturday I’ll be running street ‘surgeries’ in Sharrow and Langsett, then on Sunday I’ll be at the Madina Masjid Open Day where people can drop by and talk to me about any issue they want.
