George Osborne will unveil his 2016 Budget on Wednesday. As his previous growth forecasts unravel, he’s threatened further cuts. As ever, the devil will be in the details and I’ll be in the Commons to listen to the Chancellor’s statement. In the following days I’ll respond directly and make the case for an economy that helps everyone to flourish, not just those at the top.

But this week isn’t just about the Budget. On Monday I’ll be having Q&A sessions with two students groups – from Sheffield Hallam University and King Edward VII School -; who are visiting Parliament, before speaking at the launch of youth homelessness charity Centrepoint’s new research into employment and apprenticeships. In the chamber I’ll be supporting Ed Miliband who is calling on the Government to build on the Paris Climate talks by making carbon emissions targets legally binding.

On Tuesday, we’ll be continuing our Inquiry into UKTI and Exports at the Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) Select Committee. I’m still fighting the Government’s planned closure of the BIS Office in Sheffield, and I’ll raise it again with Business Secretary Sajid Javid during BIS questions. Later I’ll be at a meeting of the Labour In for Britain group and also attending an event with members of the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Yorkshire and the Humber.  

On Thursday I’ve organised for Labour’s Immigration Listening Tour to come to Sheffield and I’ll be joining Shadow Immigration Minister Keir Starmer as we meet with universities, hospitals, businesses and groups working with refugees and go out to listen to local people’s views about immigration.

On Friday I’ll be talking with students at the University Technical College, meeting with the Sheffield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, for which I was raising funds last week, and catching up with the Chief Executive of Cavendish Cancer Care, of which I’m a Patron.

On Saturday I’ll be speaking at a Christian Aid campaign roadshow and  I’ll be out campaigning at the weekend for the UK to stay in the EU – you can read more about my views on staying in the EU here and contact me about getting involved with campaigning here.
