This morning I’ve travelled down to Westminster for the special session of Parliament that’s been called to honour my colleague Jo Cox who was so brutally murdered last Thursday. I’ve been touched by the large number of people who’ve contacted me to express their condolences and their solidarity -; and by the contributions to the fund set up by her friends and family to raise money for her favourite charities, to which you can donate here.

I’ll be coming back to Sheffield this evening to continue campaigning for Britain to remain in the UK, something that Jo felt passionately about. We shared a concern about the way that immigration had been used in the EU debate and she generously tweeted on an article I’d written in the Daily Mirror last Monday. She had written a strong piece on the same issue at the same time for the Yorkshire Post, which you can read here.

With only days to go, the polls are very close and every vote will count. I’m grateful to all the people who’ve volunteered their help and there’s lots to do this week. Drop me a note here if you can give some time, and I’ll be in touch.
