I have spoken out in the House of Commons against the impact of employment tribunal fees on workers gaining justice, calling on Ministers to publish their long-awaited review into the issue. Since the Coalition Government introduced tribunal fees in 2013, claims have dropped by 70% from an average of 13,500 to 4,400 per quarter! I think it’s likely that the Government’s review, meant to be published at the end of 2015, is going to confirm that ordinary people are being priced out of challenging bad bosses. 

Minister Oliver Heald said that publication of the review is “imminent”. I pointed out that six months ago the Government had promised that it was due “soon” and pressed him to give a publication date. But he simply said that publication was “genuinely imminent.” I hope that this isn’t more Government spin. It’s vital that they come clean and publish their long-awaited review.
