Brexit dominates my week as the Commons continues to debate the Second Reading of the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill today (watch my interview with CNN about the Bill here), with votes coming at midnight.  Tomorrow I’ll be responding for Labour’s front bench, in a Westminster Hall debate about negotiations on the future rights of UK nationals in the EU. 

On Wednesday I’ll be speaking in a Commons debate on tuition fees, in which I’ll be talking about some of the injustices of the current system (watch my July speech on the outrageous 6.1% student loan interest rate here).

But my work in Parliament isn’t just about debates. Tomorrow I’ll be attending the latest meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Students (of which I’m Chair) for a discussion on the General Election and student voice; and talking to the Director of the Campaign for Science and Engineering. Then on Wednesday I’ll be sitting down with the Director of Universities UK International (UUKi) to discuss international students and going to a meeting about the Taylor Review of Modern Working Practices.

I’ll be heading back to Sheffield later in the week for more Big Conversation events. Friday starts with my Big Conversation breakfast with small businesses, and is then followed by my drop-in session at Park Library Café and finishes with my pub drop-in event at the Gardeners Rest. On Saturday I’ve a street surgery in Wybourn and then, on Sunday, a public meeting in Broomhill which will be signed for the deaf community by a registered interpreter.
