Brexit inevitably continues to dominate Parliament, and I’ll be on the front bench every day as a Shadow Brexit Minister. Today the Prime Minister reports back on Friday’s agreement with the EU and the deal will be under scrutiny again on Thursday -; as Labour’s Shadow Brexit team and other MPs will be grilling David Davis and his Ministers during Brexit Questions. 

In between, on Tuesday and Wednesday, we’ll be debating the EU Withdrawal Bill, including clauses on delegated powers (the so-called “Henry VIII powers”). I’ll also be meeting the Children’s Society to discuss their concerns about the Bill.

This evening I’ll be voting on amendments to the Finance Bill, which make clear Labour’s concerns about the Budget, including the failure to tackle the housing crisis while pushing prices up by cutting stamp duty cut; the lack of an adequate Equalities Impact Assessment on the impact of Budget policies; no provision for lifting the public sector cap or addressing the crisis in the NHS and social care; and a failure to include measures to properly tackle tax avoidance and evasion.

Tomorrow, as well as the Withdrawal Bill, I’ll start the day at an All Party Universities Group breakfast meeting about degree apprenticeships, catching up with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wolverhampton, chairing a meeting of the Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform, and signing up to the ‘Dying to Work’ voluntary charter to give my support for the campaign to give additional employment protection for terminally ill people.

On Friday I’ll be back in Sheffield where I’ll be talking with the organiser of the recent Sheffield trip to the West Bank -; which I spoke about in Parliament last week -; to discuss follow up actions and meeting residents in Castle Croft to discuss local parking issues.
