Today I will be raising a Point of Order with the Speaker about the Home Office’s repeated refusal to provide me with figures they hold on the number of scientists and engineers’ visa applications rejected due to the cap on Tier 2 visa. I’ll also be in the Chamber if there’s a statement on the NHS, following the Prime Minister’s weekend funding announcement, in which the Government have finally been forced to begin to deal with the crisis they have created through eight years of underfunding.

After last week’s battles, the EU Withdrawal Bill will be at the centre of debate again as we continue efforts to ensure that Parliament is able to decide on the Government’s final Brexit deal -; which the Government are trying desperately to block. I’ll also be at a meeting organised by the trade union Prospect about the impact of Brexit on chemical regulations.

Tomorrow I’ll be meeting with the Director of Universities UK International, attending the launch of a MS Society report on Personal Independence Payments, and joining the parliamentary launch of a report about the Somaliland Presidential election in November 2017. On Wednesday, I’ll be at an event promoting plans for new health research centres as part of the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park which aims to create an internationally recognised Innovation District combining education, skills, innovation, research and economic regeneration. I’ll also be attending a UNHCR event marking World Refugee Day.

Before heading back to Sheffield on Thursday I hope to attend Parliamentary debates on refugee family reunion, and treatment and research for ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), to represent the views of constituents who have contacted me about both issues. Back home on Friday I’ll be visiting the great charity Ben’s Centre, which helps vulnerable adults with drinking problems; meeting the City Council to talk about funding; meeting the Head of City Centre Development on the New Retail Quarter, and then heading to Liverpool to talk about Brexit. On Saturday I hope to join events for Armed Forces and Veterans Day and calling in at a Great Get Together event in Broomhill Library.
