I challenged the Environment Minister yesterday to support action by the Council to reduce illegal levels of air pollution in Sheffield. I highlighted the danger posed to health in multiple sites around the city where levels of nitrogen dioxide exceed legal limits.

The Council has ambitious and innovative plans to tackle the problem, but is hindered by the fact its funding has been drained after eight years of cuts from the Coalition and Conservative Governments.

I called on the Minister to provide Sheffield Council with the funding needed and am seeking a meeting with her, together with Council representatives, to hear more about local plans. Read more here.
