Paul Blomfield Former MP for Sheffield Central
Today I took part in a debate on assisted dying, drawing on my own experience. Eight years ago today I received a phone call telling me that my father had taken his own life, not long after receiving a terminal diagnosis of inoperable lung cancer. I wanted to speak today, not only because I strongly believe in a change in the law to allow people to die with dignity, but because I know that he would have wanted me to make the case.
