Today I was in the House of Commons to support Holly Lynch’s Ten-Minute Rule Bill on reservoirs and flood risk. Currently, water companies are required to mitigate drought risk but the same emphasis is not placed on flood risk. This bill would address this imbalance by giving powers to the Environment Agency to require water companies to manage reservoirs to mitigate flood risk.

We’re seeing more extreme weather events due to climate change, and it’s important that we take steps to protect cities against floods like the devastating ones we saw in Sheffield 12 years ago.
