As scientists anticipate the earth recording the hottest temperatures ever this month, today I challenged the Secretary of State for International Development on the support we must provide to the vulnerable countries most affected. I raised the conflict around the Lake Chad Basin as an example of this, though the climate crisis is affecting every country in the world.
The wealth of developed countries is built on carbon emitting industries, and we should be the first in tackling the climate crisis and supporting those countries which didn’t create it.
