I’m delighted to have been appointed as the Shadow Minister for Brexit and EU Negotiations by Keir Starmer. I’ve worked as part of Keir’s Shadow Brexit team since October 2016 and will now be leading on the issue across the Shadow Cabinet Office and Shadow International Trade teams, led by Rachel Reeves and Emily Thornberry.

Although we’ve left the EU, Brexit is far from done and the months ahead will be crucial. As the country gets beyond the coronavirus crisis, we will face vital negotiations on our future relationship with the EU – on trade, security and many other issues. I’ll continue to share my views on all these issues in my regular Brexit updates here.

I’m also pleased to be part of the great frontbench team that Keir has assembled (see the full list here), following his election as Leader of the Labour Party with the strong support from every section of our membership. The team draws from every section of the party and will work with Keir, and our new Deputy Leader Angela Rayner, in rebuilding trust and confidence in Labour.
