UK and EU negotiators are meeting this week to discuss how to take forward the stalled talks on our future relationship, and I‘ll be closely following the talks as Shadow Minister for Brexit and EU Negotiations. I’ll also be discussing their progress in meetings with colleagues – including our regular Shadow International Trade and Shadow Cabinet Office team meetings.

Tomorrow I’m meeting constituents as part of the first ever mass ‘virtual lobby’ organised by the Climate Coalition (drop me an email if you’d like to join in) and hope to speak in the debate in the final stages of the Immigration Bill, supporting an amendment for a statutory limit on the amount of time people can be held in detention.

On Wednesday I’m catching up with representatives from Universities UK, to discuss the challenges facing the sector as a result of the pandemic and later in the week, along with my colleague Emily Thornberry, I’ll be meeting Destination for Education, a coalition of pathway providers who prepare international students for study at UK universities.

Locally I will be meeting with the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Trust and with members of the Council’s Cabinet on issues relating to the easing of the lockdown and Covid-19.
