Today I pressed Michael Gove on the Government’s lack of preparation as we head towards the Government’s self-imposed deadline for leaving the transitional period which protects our current arrangements with the EU. As the talks fail to make progress, and the prospect of leaving without a deal or with an inadequate agreement grow, it’s even more important that the Government sort out the issues the country will face.

The Government talk about providing certainty for the position we’ll face after 1 January, so I asked Michael Gove to provide clear answers on just two of the many issues we face – one affecting export arrangements for logistics companies and the other on agreements needed to avoid delays to healthcare products, an issue that has only become more crucial in the last few months.

Gove was unable to answer either of my questions directly, continuing to cause confusion. I will continue to monitor what progress is made in the Brexit talks, and the preparations for the end of the transition.
