After a month dominated by the exam crisis, continued test and trace failure and confused messaging, Parliament is back today. I’ve been drawn to question the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care this afternoon, with lots to raise!

As we enter a crucial month in the stalling talks on our future relationship with the EU, I’ll be meeting with colleagues in our Cabinet Office and International Trade teams as Shadow Brexit Minister, and with others, on pressing the Government to live up to its promises to deliver its ‘oven-ready’ deal.

I’ll also be joining the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Universities, of which I’m Secretary, tomorrow to discuss admissions and the challenges facing our universities as students return to study over the weeks ahead.

On Thursday morning I’ll be at the despatch box questioning Ministers as part of the Shadow International Trade Team, and will then be heading back to Sheffield for online meetings on Friday with the Dewa Project, to discuss the difficulties faced by women seeking asylum during the pandemic, and with the Director of Public Health and Council Officers to discuss local coronavirus measures.

I’m also working towards my annual Big Conversation. Obviously this year it will be happening a little differently, with discussions moving online, but keep an eye out for details of events and if you could help me advertise it – do get in touch.
