As part of my work with the Sheffield Cladding Action Group to tackle the problems of dangerous cladding and building safety in high-rise blocks crisis, I met with over 50 affected leaseholders yesterday. We were joined by representatives from the Council and Fire Service to discuss concerns and ways to secure remediation.

Issues discussed included the cost of waking watches and remediation of faults, initial safety approval for affected buildings, changing regulations, and the huge effect the situation has on the wellbeing of leaseholders caught up in a problem not of their making.

As well as local meetings, I am working with MPs across parties to find a national solution at no cost to leaseholders while also holding those responsible to account. I am pressing for the Government to step in to act to protect people who are victims of comprehensive regulatory failure and irresponsible developers.
