Having listened to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities make his statement on building safety today, I challenged him on his so-called solution. Whilst his statement had some positive parts, it left too many questions unanswered and many leaseholders still facing financial ruin.

I argued that the best way for the Government to deal with this crisis is still to take on the costs for fixing the faults immediately, before recovering the money from those responsible. This will ensure that no leaseholder has to pay, but instead the Government is continuing to kick the solution down the road.
