I work closely with the Council on the redevelopment of the city centre and I was delighted to have the chance to visit the Moor development to talk about progress on phase 2 (the complex with new shops, restaurants and a cinema) and hear about plans for phase 3 (on the corner with Furnival Gate).

The city centre was transformed under the last Labour Government, with the support of European Union grants and private investment. Although the Tories have slashed public investment in recent years, the Council is working hard with the private sector to regenerate the Moor into a new shopping and leisure hub in the city centre. It’s great to see it taking shape.

The new retail and leisure development will include five shops, seven restaurants and a new nine screen cinema. The shops will open in late 2016 and the cinema and restaurants in early 2017. Like many Sheffield residents I’m excited about visiting the complex when it’s finished. You can read more about the Moor development and its progress here
