Every week I put my name into the ballot for Prime Minister’s Questions -; and for the first time since the May election, I’ve been drawn for this Wednesday. But there’s lots else happening this week. I’m a trustee of the charity Focus on Labour Exploitation (FLEX) and we’ve a meeting today, after which I’m heading to Parliament, to speak in a debate opposing Government plans to scrap bursaries and introduce fees for student nurses and midwives.

Tuesday starts with a meeting of the Select Committee on Business Innovation and Skills, where we’re continuing our inquiry on the digital economy. Then I’ll be heading to the Chamber for Foreign Office Questions, where I’ll be supporting our Shadow team in my role as Hilary Benn’s PPS.

Also on Tuesday, I’ll be welcoming the Officers of the University of Sheffield Student’s Union to Westminster, where we’ll be talking about the concerns of their 27,000 members, most of whom are my constituents. I represent more students than any other MP and, on Wednesday, I’ll be meeting with the representatives of the National Union of Students (NUS) to talk about the work of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Students, which I chair.

On Wednesday I’ll also be meeting with UNISON to talk about minimum wage enforcement in the care sector, something I’ve pressed in Parliament. Then, after Prime Ministers Questions, I’m catching with other Sheffield MPs to talk about local issues. On Thursday I’ve a meeting of the European Committee to discuss issues on the Common Foreign and Security Policy. Other Westminster commitments this week include meetings with Million+, Eurotunnel, First Bus, and the Parliamentary Correspondent of the Yorkshire Post.

I’m heading back to Sheffield on Thursday evening to speak at a meeting of South Yorkshire Migration and Asylum Action Group on the Immigration Bill. Then on Friday I’ve meetings with the City Council on the Sheffield Plan, Sheffield College about the area-based reviews of further education provision, the Chief Executive ofSheffield Credit Union, and the Chief Executive of South Yorkshire Housing Association. I’ll also be meeting constituents on issue ranging from support for victims of emotional abuse to the current situation in Nigeria.
