I’m delighted that Theresa May has agreed to meet with members of Sheffield Young Carers following my request at Prime Minister’s Questions today.

Young carers are inspirational people who balance all the normal challenges of their lives with the demands of caring for a parent or sibling -; often with acute needs.

At Prime Minister’s Questions, I spoke about young carers like John, who’s been caring for his mother with fibromyalgia from the age of 10, and Phoebe, who’s been supporting her father with mental health problems from the age of 8.

I told the Prime Minister that Sheffield’s young carers, who are supported by Sheffield Young Carers, have some practical ideas about how the Government could support them and make their lives easier, and asked her if she would agree to meet them and hear their proposals.

I’m pleased that she agreed and know that they will make a powerful case to the Prime Minister on behalf of young carers across the country.
