Paul Blomfield Former MP for Sheffield Central
This week I met with Jamie McGoldrick, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, with colleagues from the Britain-Palestine All-Party Parliamentary Group.
He told us about the deteriorating situation in Gaza, where the debilitating blockade is affecting the supply of essential drugs and medical equipment to a health service struggling to deal with casualties of conflict, and economically, 70% of under-30s are unemployed.
We also talked about Hebron and the current position with demolitions on the West Bank – including the Bedouin village of Al-Khan Al-Ahmar, which I visited in 2017 and raised in Parliament. The photo below shows eviction of Palestinians from Al-Khan Al-Ahmar by Israeli forces, taken from this news article.
