The UK is the biggest beneficiary from European research programmes. We have received over €5.1 billion worth of funding from the current programme, Horizon 2020, since 2014 and is the most successful country in terms of both coordinating and participating in projects.

Continued involvement in future research programmes is one of the issues I’ve pressed as a Shadow Brexit Minister since the 2016 referendum. Now I’ve written to the Universities Minister calling on the Government to seek association with the latest programme, Horizon Europe, regardless of the outcomes of Brexit.
