After meeting with Sheffield Parent Carer Forum last week, today I took their battle for proper funding for children with special educational needs and disabilities to Parliament. I challenged Education Secretary Damien Hinds in the House of Commons this afternoon over the failure of Government funding to keep up with demand, leading to vulnerable children being excluded from school.

I was deeply disappointed with his response. He knows that vulnerable children are missing out. Their parents are struggling and our schools can’t cope. It’s a question of political choices and the Government are making the wrong ones. They’ve deprived schools of funding to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and for big corporations, and it’s completely wrong.

I’ll continue to fight for our schools and for the resources for special educational needs and disabilities.
