Last week, the Prime Minister appeared before the Liaison Committee and revealed he had no idea that migrants living and working in the UK legally are being denied access to Covid support and other social security, because they have ‘no recourse to public funds’ (NPRF) as a condition attached to their visa.

Struggling to answer at the Liaison Committee, he agreed that “people who have worked hard for this country, who live and work here, should have support of one kind or another” and promised to “find out how many there are in that position and we will see what we can do to help.” So, at PMQs today, I asked what progress he’s made on his commitment to review NPRF.

Unfortunately, his answer today showed that he still does not seems not seem able, or willing, to grasp the issue. I’ll be following up with him, and sharing the concern of over 30 organisations and charities who are pressing it too.
