We are all shocked by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and want to help. Lots of constituents have asked what’s the best way of providing support, and this post tries to answer that question.
You can register your interest in hosting a Ukrainian refugee or family of Ukrainian refugees through the ‘Homes for Ukraine’ scheme here. There is more information about the scheme here. If you are having any problems registering, or need assistance with visas for those you are sponsoring (through both Homes for Ukraine or the Ukraine Family Scheme) please contact my office.
Save the Children, with which I’ve worked on many crises, have made it clear that: “The best way to help is to make a cash donation”, pointing out that “collecting supplies like blankets or infant formula means transporting heavy goods hundreds of miles, whereas cash can reach people quickly to buy what is needed”.
Working with the Ukrainian Government, the Ukrainian Institute has produced this guide which outlines several ways to help.
In addition, the Disasters Emergency Committee, which brings together our leading aid charities, has launched this Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.
City of Sanctuary has produced this guide on other ways to assist.
I will update this page as the situation changes.
