I highlighted the way in which the fracking lobby are using the energy crisis arising from Putin’s war in Ukraine to try and reopen the case for the harmful and discredited technology extracting shale gas. I pressed the Government to rule fracking out and step up the commitment for renewables – both in terms of our energy security and meeting our climate targets. There must not be new investment in fossil fuel extraction; renewables are cheaper and can deliver quicker returns.
