Paul Blomfield Former MP for Sheffield Central
Weather and trains permitting, I’ll be heading to London for a debate on a vote of confidence in the Government, which they have tabled after refusing ours last week which was seeking to remove Boris Johnson immediately. As a result, they have also dropped the planned debate on the next stages of the Online Safety Bill.
An important part of my week though is the inaugural meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers on Wednesday, which I’ve been planning with the Carers Trust and Sheffield Young Carers. I am looking forward to establishing the group and discussing prospective plans for next year.
Tomorrow I’ve a meeting with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Immigration Detention for updates on the inhumane Rwanda scheme, and with the ShefFood Partnership to discuss what they are doing to create a more sustainable food system for Sheffield. I’ll also be meeting the Peel Group with other South Yorkshire MPs following their announcement last week on the future of Doncaster Sheffield Airport on which I set out my views.
After an online meeting with the Principal of Sheffield UTC on technical and vocational education policy, I’m heading home where on Thursday I have meetings with the Music Venue Trust and One Medical Group about issues in relation to Sheffield Walk-in Centre.
Parliament goes into recess on Thursday and I will therefore not be posting weekly updates until we return on the 5th September – with a new Conservative leader and Prime Minister.
