Until a few days ago I had been expecting the latest Chancellor (the fourth in four months) to unveil the ‘halloween budget’ today to repair the damage of the Truss/Kwarteng ‘fiscal event and 12 years of Conservative Government in which Rishi Sunak played a big role. But the problems are so deep they have postponed it until 17 November.

In between interviews for a new member of my team tomorrow, I’ll be pressing Ministers on mental health provision and later attending a briefing on the humanitarian support needed in Afghanistan as winter approaches – on which I raised funds last year.

On Wednesday I’ll be meeting Unison representatives from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and speaking in a Westminster Hall debate on the contribution made to the UK by international students, following concerning proposals from returning Home Secretary Suella Braverman. I’m meeting with Dignity in Dying  and then joining the AGM of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dentistry.

I am back in Sheffield on Thursday and Friday for meetings with Sheffield City Councillors, the NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield and social housing provider the Guiness Partnership. I’ll also be meeting with sixth form students at King Edwards VII School as part of my Big Conversation.

Over the weekend too I’ll be out meeting constituents as part of the Big Conversation. Find out more and fill out my survey here.
