After Suella Braverman was controversially reinstated as Home Secretary, I took the opportunity to press her about the collapse of the asylum system highlighted by shocking reports of conditions at the Manston asylum reception facility.  

I asked three questions about why she is doubling down on the same unsuccessful and inhumane approach – her target for processing claims, when she will clear the backlog of applications, and whether she would consider granting the right to work to those who have not had their claim processed within six months. 

She ignored all the questions but I’ll keep pressing the issue.
