Tomorrow’s sessions of the Health and Social Care Select Committee, to which I was appointed before Christmas, are the highlight of this week for me. In the morning we’re going to meet with the Chair of the independent NHS Pay Review Body, and in the afternoon we’re the Secretary of State on the multiple crises facing health and care. I’ll also be meeting with ambulance workers at an event organised by GMB.

On Tuesday I’ll be closing my Christmas Appeal with Save the Children for the children of Somalia, with huge thanks to everyone who’s helped me top the £5,000 target we set (there’s still a chance for final donations here).  I’m also catching up with the Union of Jewish Students to discuss the NUS inquiry into antisemitism, which I’ve followed closely as Chair of the All-Party Group for Students.

On Wednesday I’m meeting with a representative of Sheffield’s Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, as well as joining an event with  the Deputy Director of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield, to support the UK Youth Rocketry Challenge. I’ll also be joining a meeting of the Make Votes Matter Alliance.

Back in Sheffield at the end of the week, I’ve a meeting with the leadership of the City Council and I’ll be joining an event at St Marie’s Cathedral, celebrating the life of my Labour colleague Anne Murphy who was a Councillor for Manor Castle until her sudden death just before Christmas.
