When the Prime Minister reported to the House of Commons on his agreement with the EU to fix the Northern Ireland Protocol previously negotiated by Boris Johnson, I pressed him for a commitment to associate with Horizon Europe, the EU funding programme for innovation and research, which had been blocked by the Government’s failure to reach agreement on the Protocol. 

There’s an opportunity now for the Government to put the interests of universities and UK research first and I will continue to press them to take it.
