Parliament starts again today after the Easter recess and tomorrow I’m leading a debate on the importance of research and development and the need for the UK to secure association with Horizon Europe, now that the agreement of the Windsor Framework with the EU has removed the barrier to the participation which is so important to our universities and business.

Before that I’ve a meeting of the Health and Care Select Committee continuing our inquiry into prevention and this session will be looking at issues around vaccination. I’ll also be talking to Gambling with Lives in advance of the anticipated government announcement on gambling reform, meeting the Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University, and meeting the CEO of Sheffield Museums.

On Wednesday I’m chairing a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Young Carers where we’ll be hearing from key voices in the sector on a review of the Carers Action Plan. I’ll also be going to the AGM of the APPG for Choice at the End of Life at which I’m seeking re-election as a Vice-Chair and where we’ll be discussing our plans for the year ahead. Later I’ll be at the launch of a Russell Group report on Education for Skills and Growth, before heading back to Sheffield.

On Thursday I’ve an online meeting of the UK Trade and Business Commission at which we’ll be focussing on the healthcare sector, I’ll be catching up with the Chair and CEO of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and joining an iftar at the Medina Masjid. On Friday I’ll be meeting with Council leaders and then addressing a meeting of the University of the 3rd Age, before visiting Park Academy to hear from students about their campaign on community safety.

On Saturday I’m heading back to London for Sheffield United’s fifth FA Cup semi-final in the 60 years I’ve been following them and on Sunday I’ll be back knocking on doors and meeting constituents.
