After meeting bereaved parents in April at an event on student mental health, suicide and duty of care organised by the LEARN network and participating in a Petitions Committee hearing on the issue, I spoke in a Westminster Hall debate on duty of care and student suicide.

I made the case that every suicide is a preventable death and that more should be done to ensure good practice in supporting students in every university, with proper accountability, as well as government action to improve mental health services and make them accessible to students and other young people.
