Health and care dominates my week in Parliament again, although I’ll miss Tuesday’s session of the Health and Social Care Select Committee Inquiry on Prevention as it clashes with the Select Committee for Culture, Media and Sport Inquiry on Gambling Regulation at which I’m representing the Health Committee to cover issues on gambling addiction and harm.

On Wednesday I’ve two Health and Social Care Select Committee events. In the morning we’re visiting the Francis Crick Institute as part of our Inquiry into Future Cancer, exploring innovation in research and treatment. In the afternoon we’re examining the NHS Workforce Plan with NHS leaders and staff representatives.

I’ll also be attending an event hosted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Universities on the role of universities in the net zero agenda, before an event hosted by the Higher Education Policy Institute to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The business next week will be fairly light due to the three by-elections being held on the 20th July, and I’m spending time in Selby, after which Parliament goes into recess for the summer and so my  next weekly preview will be posted on 4th September – although my office is open throughout the summer.
