I had been expecting to be recovering from eye surgery this week but my operation was cancelled yesterday so I’m heading to Westminster this morning where we’re debating amendments to the Levelling-up and Energy Bills made in the House of Lords.

Tomorrow I’ll be joining colleagues on the Health and Social Care Select Committee for a session as part of our inquiry into prevention in health and social care, looking at how we create healthy places – one of the ten workstreams for the inquiry (read more here). I’ve also online meetings with the BMA and constituents before returning to Sheffield.

On Thursday I’ve a meeting of the UK Trade and Business Commission, of which I’m a member, looking at environmental policy in relation to the recommendations of our report on developing UK trade post-Brexit. On Friday I’m meeting with the City Council leadership and a group of visiting US civic and business leaders in Sheffield as part of a Marshall Memorial Fellowship programme on transatlantic engagement.

I’ll obviously be looking out for the by-election results on Friday morning from Mid-Bedfordshire and Tamworth, where I was campaigning last weekend, and on Saturday I’ll be out with Marie Tidball in Penistone and Stocksbridge – before heading to Bramall Lane in the evening to see if the Blades can pick up a first win!
