The Prime Minister was questioned intensively this afternoon on Friday’s air strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, in a session which accepted the need for action but reflected concern about escalation of the conflict. Many MPs rightly raised the need to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, but on this occasion I pressed for stronger action to secure peace and stability in Yemen – where the Houthis have prosecuted an appalling civil war in which the UN estimate 377,000 Yemenis have died.
