I’m heading down to Westminster this morning where the Health and Social Care Select Committee dominates my week. We’ll be meeting for our first evidence session on alcohol, drugs, gambling and smoking as part of our wider inquiry on Prevention in health and social care and then continuing the session on Tuesday morning. In between, we’re meeting this evening to consider our draft report on Assisted dying/assisted suicide.

After the Health and Social Care Select Committee tomorrow I’ll be in the Commons Chamber where I’ve been selected for a topical question to the Chancellor of the Exchequer – and there’s plenty of issues from which to choose! Later I’ll be meeting with the Company Chemists Association to discuss the current state of the pharmacy network, before hosting a Parliamentary screening of the film ‘My Blond GF’, an important new documentary about the  impact of deepfake and image-based online abuse.

On Wednesday, I’ll be stopping off in Wellingborough on my way back to Sheffield ahead of next Thursday’s by-election. Then at the end of the week I’ve meetings with City of Sanctuary and the Mayoral Combined Authority as well as visiting the University of Sheffield to find out more about their dementia research facility at the Neuroscience Institute.

Parliament’s in recess next week and so my next weekly preview will be posted on Monday 19th February.
