Parliament returns this week after recess so I’m heading down to Westminster this morning where the Health and Social Care Select Committee meets for our third evidence session as part of our inquiry on pharmacy. Before that I’ll be joining an event organised by Natspec for the launch of their 2024 manifesto, ‘Unlocking Potential’, on the important role of specialist colleges, like Freeman College in my constituency, for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

On Tuesday morning, the Health and Social Care Select Committee meets again to further consider our draft report on assisted dying. I’ll then be heading to a drop-in event on the UN Global Ocean Treaty, before joining the APPG for International Students roundtable where we’ll be discussing how we can ensure the UK maintains policies which welcome international students.

After that, I’ll be serving on a Delegated Legislation Committee on The draft Bank of England Levy (Amount of Levy Payable) Regulations 2024, then I’ve also been to selected to serve as a member of the Unopposed Bill Committee to consider the Bishop’s Stortford Cemetery Bill. I’ll then be with joining a meeting hosted by Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East with Arab Ambassadors to discuss the current situation in Gaza then heading to an event, hosted by Save the Children, to mark the second anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine.

On Wednesday, I’ll be joining the Mental Health Foundation for the launch of their report ‘The Mental Health of Asylum Seekers and Refugees in the UK’. I’ll then be chairing a roundtable and discussion event of the APPG for Students where we’ll be speaking to students about their experiences and difficulties with student housing. After that I’ll be meeting with the APPG for Young Carers to discuss the impact of caring on mental health – and, later, voting on a ceasefire in Gaza.

Back in Sheffield from Thursday I’ll be meeting with officers at Sheffield University Students’ Union, meeting with The Brain Tumour Charity ahead of their drop-in event next month which I’m sponsoring, meeting with a constituent to talk about HS2 and holding an advice surgery at ISRAAC. – and, on Saturday campaigning with Marie Tidball in Penistone and Stocksbridge.
